Volunteering!

I had the pleasure to volunteer for the Extreme Makeover Home Edition for the Giunta's new home. I'm so pleased to be able to contribute to doing something to help this family.
I had no clue how many trucks and tents were on the site and how much of the neighbor it consumes. A huge thanks to the neighbors for working with the crew and allowing them to set up tents on their property.

Extreme Makeover - photos

I found the following photos online.

Although I'm excited for the family that they have this help, I'm deeply saddented that the accident occured at all, and worse, it happened the day of Renee and Paul's daughter. I just want to shake my fist at the skies and demand why.

I'm often get teary eyed watching Extreme Makeover, however, this one has touched me even more. Is it because it's so close to home? That the tragic accident occured on a day that should have only been one of joy? I learned that Paul had his two boys in the car with them and that they were returning from Toy-R-Us. His boys were unhurt.
I'm at least proud to know that I contributed to the funds raised for them this past Saturday.
I did try to volunteer my time, however, I found that they weren't really in need of 'general volunteers'. It's a good thing that they aren't at a loss for volunteers!

The Giunta's in Maynard

I went to a BBQ today that Extreme Home Makeover was hosting for the Giunta Family where they took a photo that will be displayed in the Giunta's home. At the BBQ I sat by some friends of Renee Giunta's where I learned more details of the sad day that put Paul in the hospital.
He had taken his two boys to Toys R Us and was on his way home.
Paul hasn't been in his home, with his wife and kids, since his accident, which is also the same day his daughter was born.

Extreme Home Makeover

Extreme Home Makeover is in my town helping a needy family. Paul Giunta had a serious car accident, on the way home after visiting his wife who had delivered their 3rd child. Can you imagine! If anyone can find it in their heart to donate, please go to:
http://www.extremehomema2008.com
Even a little bit $5 - whatever you can manage all adds up.
I love Extreme Home Makeover!

Amelia

My sweet little Amelia (5 month old cat I adopted from the Pat Brody Shelter for Cats) has something wrong with her eye - poor baby. I need to give eye cream. She's so adorable. I love all my kitties!
No writing in lately, I've been busy with word, my cats and my basement.

Jena's new nickname

Yeaaa! I finally got to the point in my next novel where Jena gets her new nickname. I've been wanting to write this since I thought of it months back! Or was that a year back. Really slow writing!
To add to the slow progress, the last 100 pages haven't even been read through once. I'm going with the 'get it out on paper first' approach, then edit and revise later.

Basement and writing

I've been painting my basement and I haven't gotten much writing in. I'm excited about the basement though. We're having a drop ceiling installed and we're painting all the floors and walls so it will be a big improvement.
