While exiting off the freeway this evening there was a kitty that was on the exit ramp who then ran into the trees between the circular exit ramp and freeway - blocked in by roads all around. (No, I slowed in time and didn't hit the kitty)
I went in and called for 1/2 but the kitty never showed his/her face.
I don't know what to do. I can't imagine he has a home as he was in an unusual spot.
I really adore cats and I find this most upsetting.
If I trap him and he's feral, where will he live - he can't live there.

Aw, poor baby kitten! I feel your pain.
I went back there today but didn't see any sign of the kitty. I'm hopeful that maybe, just maybe, the kitty belongs to the house I noticed across the street.
Really relieved that I didn't hit the kitty.
My four babies (in my avatar and on my blog home page) were actually all feral kittens found outside by some wonderful caring volunteer!

That does sound upsetting. I once tried to befriend a feral kitten outside my home when I was a teen. It turns out it was a Florida Wildcat kitten. Very feral and absolutely uninterested in my "help."

Yes--as I recall, it looked like a reddish tabby.
shhhh, don't tell hubby but i have three feral cats living under my new sunporch, i threw blankets under there & feed them everyday :) i never met a cat i didn't like. i have three indoor ones, so there's no room for anymore :(
Italian Peasant, it's good that you are feeding the kitties. If they're feral, then they wouldn't be open to coming in your house.
Please consider having them neutered/spayed. Let me know if you need donations to help cover the expense.

I have 5 kitties myself. 4 of them (in my avatar) are all litter mates and were actually rescued ferals around 5 weeks old - they would have died had they not been found as they were all sick when they were found - poor babies!
